Please send prayers to Officer Jones and his family.Seven years ago this morning, Officer Timothy Jones was critically wounded in the line of duty while taking an armed offender into custody. Today, he continues to recover and his perseverance is an inspiration to all of us.
As we think about Tim, we’d like to share a throwback photo of him from the fall of 2015, taken during a foot patrol of downtown Park Forest. That signature smile is enough to brighten anyone’s day.

Nice work!On Friday, Bob Berlin announced that Judge Michael Reidy granted the State’s motion to deny bond for an Aurora man accused of opening fire on another man outside a Naperville bar last weekend.
The defendant is charged with single felony counts of: Armed Habitual Criminal (Class X), Aggravated Battery – Discharge of a Firearm (Class X) and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 2). A $1 million arrest warrant was previously issued for the defendant, and he was arrested without incident.
“Opening fire in downtown Naperville on a Saturday night, as alleged against the defendant, demonstrates an absolute disregard for public safety and contempt for the rule of law,” Berlin said. “This type of violent crime is extremely serious and will most certainly not be tolerated in DuPage County.” #PublicSafety #DuPageCounty … See MoreSee Less
Book Ban Lie is Dangerous
Thousands of Naperville residents recently received a patently false mailer that wrongfully alleged that there are numerous local candidates running for office in Naperville whom have designs on banning books and “literary classics”.
Thankfully, there are no such candidates. Exactly zero local candidates have voiced any support for banning books. Our libraries are not being pursued by any local groups or candidates seeking to ban books. There are also no book ban controversies now – or known to be coming – before the Naperville Library Board. This mailer, sent by the group Naperville Forward (chaired by Naperville City Councilwoman Theresa Sullivan), is a complete fabrication. Every word of this mailer is a lie.
It is one thing to engage in some puffery during election season. It is something else entirely to outright lie about people. This mailer was an attempt to deceive voters and to incite outrage and angst amongst our residents. The lowest form of campaigning.
The candidates that were supported by this terrible piece should publicly repudiate it. Hopefully, our community sends a message on Election Day that this kind of campaigning will not be tolerated in Naperville.
